Are ASTROLOGY and Healing of Ailments Interlinked?

English: Vedic astrologic chart in MalayalamVedic astrologic chart in Malayalam

We come across many references in the Indian ancient literature regarding the relationship between astrology and the probable timing of ailments. Prescriptions for treatment of disease were also done with the combined help of astrology and Ayurveda. Many classics proclaim that the expert medicine-men of the past were also expert astrologers.

At that time, the only system of medicine known to man was Ayurveda. There were some other systems akin to Ayurveda outside India also. All systems depended on plant and animal species, stones, and other materials for the preparation of medicine. The Allopathic and the homeopathic systems developed after a long time and both were aided by laboratory tests and research. The same degree of accuracy cannot be claimed for the diagnosis of a disease on the basis of the horoscope of an individual. However, a relationship exists between the timing of disease and planetary influences that a competent astrologer can find out from a  duly-cast horoscope.

The practitioners of Ayurveda in the past took help from astrology in these matters. Vedic astrology is unique as it advocates remedial measures in the form of propitiation of planets also in the event of the occurrence of a disease.

Many such matters have been discussed in detail by Dr. K.S. Charak in his book "Essentials of Medical Astrology". Dr. Charak is a practicing surgeon with an F.R.C.S degree from the U.K. He claims in his book that the knowledge of astrology becomes very useful for diagnosing and treating ailments and for finding out the probable timing of the occurrence of a disease.

Vedic astrology can help in the following manners.

Probable timing of the disease: An astrologer can time the onset of disease even before the occurrence of the disease by seeing the planetary combinations in the horoscope and by using the "dasa" system and the transit. This is the area of strength for an astrologer which a doctor may not be able to do. An astrologer can also predict the type of disease and the organs likely to be affected by the disease.

Diagnosis of disease: Astrological classics do point towards combinations that can cause specific illnesses as per the horoscope, but, this can be better done by a doctor. An astrologer can provide valuable inputs at times. However, the area of diagnosis is the strength of the medical practitioner. In this field, they seem to score over an astrologer.

The severity of disease: This area can be handled by both astrologers as well as doctors. Astrologers can understand the severity of the disease by judging the degree of the affliction of planets causing the ailments and by cross-checking the result with the ongoing "dasa" and prevalent transits.

Treatment: The medical remedies of today are far more superior and reliable compared to astrological remedies. However, astrology can help as a preventive tool. It makes an individual aware of the problems in advance so that he can take preventive steps. He can take steps for diluting the impact of the disease by resorting to methods prescribed by astrological classics. Such methods are sometimes very useful. Surgical operations are also not 100% successful and views of competent astrologers can be taken in such matters. Medical practitioners can be consulted after the onset of
the problem.

Elements in ASTROLOGY

Two Women with the Signs of Libra and Scorpio....

Groups of signs in astrology share certain characteristics that are classified according to four earthly elements – fire, air, water and earth. It helps explain why some signs are more compatible than others.

The Fire signs are Aries (March 21 to April 19), Leo (July 23 to August 22)  and Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21). Fire people are leaders, dynamic. They light up everything around them. Because Fire needs Air to exist, Fire signs are most compatible with the Air signs. Water is anathema to Fire and a Water person could try to dampen the dynamism and enthusiasm that defines Fire.

The Air signs are Aquarius (January 20 to February 18), Gemini (May 21 to June 21) and Libra (September 23 – October 22). These are the idea signs, the air that breathes a spark into a flame. They can’t be tied down. They require freedom of movement and thought.

The water signs of Cancer (June 22 to July22), Scorpio (October 23 to November 21) and Pisces (February 19 to March 20) are characterized by the phrase still waters run deep. They’re emotional and sensitive, given to deep thoughts and conversations. Just as water can blur an image or hide secrets within its depths, so do Water signs have secretive emotions and abilities.  Water signs are most compatible with Earth signs.

The Earth signs are Taurus (April 20 – May 20), Virgo (August 23 to September 22) and Capricorn (December 22 to January 19). They are stable and consistent. While not as compassionate as the water signs, they are nonetheless nurturing. They can be rigid (stick in the mud) and easily stuck in routines. They are most compatible with Water signs, as Water is necessary for the Earth to properly nurture growing things. Earth helps Water contain itself, which is often necessary for survival on the planet.

Ascendant SIGN

Wikipedia)
Technically speaking, your rising sign, or ascendant, reflects the zodiac sign that was ascending on the Eastern horizon at the moment you took your first breath in this world. This is why an exact birth time is so vital to finding your accurate rising sign. Located on the cusp of the first house of your astrological chart -- or at the nine o'clock position -- the rising sign can exert an influence almost as powerful as your Sun and Moon signs.

If you were to think of your Sun sign as your soul -- your inner personality and potential -- and your Moon sign as your heart -- your emotional core -- then you could say that your rising sign is your physical self or the face you present to the world. For example, your Sun sign might be Taurus, your rising sign could very well be Gemini. While you're feeling laid-back, others will tend to see you as a ball of nervous energy and cerebral wit.

At times, your rising sign may act as a mask, hiding some aspect of your inner self you don't feel like revealing. Your Ascendant sign describes your temperament, your outward mannerisms and behavior, the personality you put on public display. It is the part of yourself you are most willing for other people to see in casual, impersonal situations. Changes here will explain why even people born on the same day as you will have very different personalities, different strengths and interests, and different life experiences.

The Ascendant is also called the Rising Sign of a person's chart. Astrologers use the two terms interchangeably. It is literally the sign that was rising on the Eastern horizon of the sky at the time you were born in the place where you were born. This is why it is essential to have both a birthplace and a birth time in order to cast a completely valid Natal Chart.

Indian Vedic ASTROLOGY

Vrishchika
Photo  by skatoolaki
Indian astrology is based on the theory of fate. The good and the bad actions of the past life determine your fate or Karma of your present life, and the actions of your present life determine your future Karma. According to Indian astrology, a person is born at that place, on that day and on that moment when his individual fate is in perfect mathematical harmony with the progress of the stars in heaven.

However, it does not preach total dependence on fate. Astrology lets you know what you were born with, what your possibilities are, the limitations, your strong points and your drawbacks. What type of life partners and professions suit you and to expect is also indicated. It also prescribes various remedial measures to ward off the bad effects and to enhance the good results. Astrology is your roadmap of destiny. However, your fate is in your hands. The scriptures guide us by telling us what is good and what is bad; what to do and what not to do; how to do and how not to do. You are given a piece of land and the seeds to sow. How much effort to put into it, what amount of manure and water to add and when how to reap the produce is your job.

After that, it is you who have to act using your knowledge intelligence, discrimination and experience. Fate is like a game of cards where you cannot help the cards that have been dealt with you but how to play them is in your hands. You may get good cards but if you play badly you will lose and you may get bad cards and still may win if you play carefully. Don’t blame the roadmap if you get drunk, drive badly and have an accident!

ASTROLOGY - Planets and the Signs - Part 3

International Astrology Day
Photo  by /\ \/\/ /\
This is the continuation of my previous article where I discuss the effect of Mars, Mercury and Venus on a person's personality. In this article, I will talk about the effects of Jupiter and Saturn.

Jupiter:

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. Jupiter is the planet of good luck, success, and positive thinking. The position of Jupiter in your birth chart indicates what things are lucky for you. It also tells you what career is most suited for you and what areas in life will bring you the most luck. In mythology, Jupiter was known as the supreme God. If Jupiter is well placed in your chart then it means you are outgoing, you are very lucky in terms of money and possessions. Also if Jupiter is well placed in your chart, it means that you will never have to worry too much, things will come easily to you but at the last minute. You also are popular among people and successful in your career. With all the good things it has to offer, there does not seem like there would be a negative influence of the planet. But there is a bad part and that is excessive goodness. Like with everything, the excess of anything is not good, if you get everything it can make you lazy and you will never develop strength of character.

Saturn:

Saturn is the second largest planet. Saturn is the planet of responsibility and symbolizes hard work. Anyone going through the phase of Saturn will learn to be hardworking and will face a lot of trials and difficulty which will make him strong of character. Saturn also teaches a person discipline. It is the planet of self control, patience, maturity, and realism. It might seem like a very harsh and cold planet but you should see it as a strict parent who is trying to teach you all the good things in life so that you can be a good and responsible person. Saturn will put you through a lot of difficult situations just to test you and give you a lesson but don't worry since whatever it gives would never be more than what you can handle. If Saturn is placed in a strong position in your chart then it means that you are patient and responsible. If Saturn is placed poorly in your birth chart, it can make you selfish, unhappy, and solitary and a pessimist. But as I said before, don't be scared of it, accept what Saturn has to offer and you will end up thanking it for whatever you leaned.

ASTROLOGY - Planets and the Signs - Part 2

The astrological symbols/glyphs used in Wester...
The astrological symbols/glyphs used in Western astrology to represent the planets in astrology
Influence of different planets in different signs can play an important role in understanding your birth chart and in turn your personality.

Mercury:

Mercury is the second smallest planet in the solar system and the planet is closest to the sun. I am sure you know all this but what you don't know is the effect that mercury has when placed in different signs. Mercury reflects the way you see, hear and understand things. If mercury is strong in your chart then it will endow you with a good memory and makes you eloquent and also you love traveling. If mercury is weak in your chart it tends to make you critical, sarcastic and argumentative.

Venus:

Venus is the planet of love and it rules your capacity to express affection and to enjoy the beauty. When Venus is strong in your chart then it endows you with a very easy going nature and it makes you a lover of everything that is beautiful. It also tells how you relate to the opposite sex, and also tells about your social relationships. The negative side of Venus, on the other hand, makes you a narcissist and you lack in willpower.

Mars:

Mars is the planet of physical energy. It is the planet of passion, sexuality, and force. People with a strong Mars influence have a very strong personality with a lot of energy and you are quick and active and hate to be bossed around. On the other hand, if Mars is not well positioned in your chart, it can make you argumentative and quarrelsome and it may cause problems in the personal relationship. It can also make you impulsive and impatient.

This is a very general idea of how the planets affect your personality, for the effect of the rest of the planets on your personality read my other articles.

ASTROLOGY - Planets and the Signs - Part 1

Birth chart example 2
Birth chart example (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Birth chart: a birth chart is divided into 12 parts called 12 houses and the planets are signs are placed in these houses. Each planet in a different house and different sign signifies something different. Birth charts are very precise as it is very hard to get the exact same chart as someone else but remember that they are not perfect as there are things that are beyond science and calculations and no one can explain them.

While analyzing your birth chart you need to take the houses, planets and the zodiac signs all into consideration. Earlier you must have thought that you are a Virgo or a Leo or a Gemini. But now you will realize that all the signs play an important role in your chart and all of them contribute to your personality and your future. Below I will talk about what sun and moon.

Sun is the most important planet in our solar system (all of us know that, nothing new in it.). It helps in the sustenance of life in this world. It provides us with warmth, energy, and food that essential to our life. Although the sun is a star in astrology it is referred as a planet. The position of the sun in your birth chart governs your personality, how you react to things in life, your goals in life, your individuality, and style. Your sun sign will tell you about your general traits that can be seen by others. The other traits that people won't notice but you can notice are the ones caused by the influence of different planets in different signs in your birth chart. Understanding your sun sign will help you understand yourself better and help you grow as a person.

Moon is again not a planet but in context of astrology, it is referred as a planet. Moon is the 2nd most important planet after sun while understanding your personality. The moon signifies your inner self; it helps you in understanding your emotions and instincts. The moon personality is that part of yourself that you want to keep hidden, the part that feels anger, jealousy, the spontaneous joy, fantasies. The moon has power over the emotional sphere, hence it influences your receptivity to others and how other people feel about you. Sometimes you might feel that you are always in a conflict as to what to do then you should read more about your sun and moon sign and learn both the positive and negative traits and apply the positive things in your life and try to work around the negative traits.

Zodiac Sign: CANCER

Français : Signe Zodiac Cancer
Zodiac Cancer (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The sign of Cancer (June 22 – July 22) has very little to do with that prickly crustacean, believe it or not. In fact, it’s hard to pin down exactly what constitutes the Cancer personality.  The ancient Egyptians perceived Cancer as the sacred scarab. It was a symbol of resurrection and immortality and they often placed a carving of a scarab in the body where the heart had been, as part of the mummification process.

Cancers are very imaginative and intuitive. They make great artists and musicians. They’re not risk takers and will take the time to contemplate all sorts of outcomes and probabilities before taking on a new venture. They’re very sympathetic and protective of those around them. They will help out in whatever way they can, although not impulsively and will temper their generosity by calculating all the risks first. They’re emotional and loving, and great family and pet people.

In the Zodiac Great Year, the Age of Cancer fell between 8600 and 6450 BCE. It was a time characterized by the worship of mother goddesses. During this period alcohol fermentation was discovered and people began to use copper.

Cancers make good journalists, writers or politicians because of their ability to think and judge independently what they’re told. They’re good in public service, perhaps in social service agencies. Cancers are good providers because they themselves love the comfort and a good life.  Cancers can procrastinate and can upset their families with this trait. They’re not too good at taking orders, so positions, where they’re required to be submissive or subordinate, may not suit them well.

Famous Cancers comprise an interesting mix of accomplishments. They include the Duke of Windsor and Bob Fosse, Sylvester Stallone, the Dalai Lama, Robin Williams and Ernest Hemingway.

The best partner for Cancer is Taurus, while the sign with the least potential for a harmonious relationship with Cancer is Aries.

Not just your ordinary newspaper HOROSCOPE & chinese ZODIACS

Horoscope
Photo  by Cali4beach
Some definitions of the word astrology, depending on where you look, tend to sound like it wouldn't be out-of-place in a science fiction movie. While physical science (as in laboratories, chemicals, microscopes) differs from the science behind astrology (the stars, planets, your birth chart), it isn't completely ludicrous to think that getting one's horoscope isn't simply just plucking it out of nowhere.

The horoscope is basically the interpretation of a cosmic chart or map, which tells how the position of sun, moon, and planets relates to a particular person who was born on a certain day. Now the daily horoscope we get from the newspapers and websites are generalized readings of the Sun sign horoscope. It is an estimate of where the sun was located when you were born.

The "true" horoscope, however, is more specific. It takes into account not only the birth date but also the location and time (down to the hour and minute, even) of one's birth. A true horoscope is completely individual because no two people can have the exact same birthplace and birth time.

Now actually interpreting the horoscope requires a lot of knowledge, if one were to do it correctly. Like what was mentioned earlier, it makes use of a chart with symbols representing the cosmic beings such as the sun, moon, planets, and stars. Any astrologer worth his salt should be able to read this map correctly to learn how these cosmic influences affect a given space in time and how they will relate to a person born at another specific time and place.

It is very unlike psychic reading where one can be imbued with the psychic ability from the get-go, astrology and the horoscope involves some study and preparation from the one who intends to interpret a natal or birth chart. That is why lots of people do look for reliable personal horoscope readers online and are willing to hire their services.

Chinese Zodiac and Horoscopes

The Chinese zodiac is not simply relating the year you were born to an animal and its supposed attributes. While generally, this is the simplest approach to represent a person’s character or how a person perceives him or herself, e.g., those born Year of the Dog are thought to be loyal, emotional and friendly – there are also animal signs assigned by month and hours of the day. Apart from the year of birth, these represent a person’s inner animal and secret animal respectively.

Chinese Astrology Symbols
Photo  by GanMed64

These attributes of inner and secret animal are also divided into 12 parts; each represented in the 12 months of the year and 12 hours of the day a person is born. Hence, a person may seem to be “dog” because he or she was born in the year of the dog; and can be at the same time, “snake” internally and “dragon” secretively.

In Chinese astrology, the month pillar, a.k.a. a person’s inner animal is said to determine the circumstances in an adult’s life. You need to note though, that the Chinese lunar calendar begins in the Spring Festival and not January first in the Gregorian calendar.

Finally, the secret animal, determined by one’s exact time of birth is said to be a person’s truest representation. This hour pillar is said to determine circumstances in the early child and late age life of a person.

Only after these attributes are determined clearly can one proceed with checking compatibility. Animal personalities may match well in adult stages of life, e.g., a dog-horse couple; and may also be incompatible during old age, e.g., tiger and rooster.

Like any other relationship counselor, a Chinese horoscope expert can help prevent or lessen problems between couples. With help on zodiac signs love, a couple can be lead to a proper channel to which incompatibility or disagreement can be avoided at any stage of their lives

ASTROLOGY Chart Forecast

There have been a lot of astrology reading nowadays who can access by anyone, and turn out to be in the end an expert by their possess person countryside which is a supernatural birth chart. On the additional hand over there encompass been additional judgment in giving the impression of life form winning by these and in the well-known words, the huge philosopher.

Birth chart or also known as the natal chart is a tool used on astrology to gain comprehensive information concerning the whole character of a person basing on the applicable data given - date, time and place of birth. A single mistake will make a lot of difference to the wholeness of the birth chart reading. On the other hand, it should be noted that birth chart does not guarantee 100% reliability. People have their own decisions and mind that will guide them on the right path. If you want to know what your birth chart means, just make sure that your life should not be dependent on what your birth chart tells you. Astrology readings are here to only guide us so you should not allow what your life should be base on the predictions because as defined, a birth chart is just part of the divination in mythology where methodical meaning has not been established. In Australia no essence what your devout, flawless or systematic preferential treatment you authority be, it make come into view as if you are in a little part of a build improved to consider birth chart.

Astrology chart gives forecast concerning a person's love life, health, opportunities, and more. Its accurateness is extremely dependent relative on the precision of each detail given.

The precise time of a person’s birth reflects a lot when it comes to accurate birth chart and natal chart. When making a birth chart and natal chart based on the person's date, time, and place of birth, each planet is allocated to a zodiac sign, referring to the placement of the planet in the collection during a person's birth. However, could it be possible that not all signs will be represented?

In a birth chart and natal chart, there are 10 planets (Sun is considered a planet in astrology, and Pluto is also still considered a planet). That repeatedly means that not all 12 zodiac signs will become visible in the chart. Sometimes, 2 planets might be found in 1 sign, leading to more zodiac signs that do not appear in a person's chart.

A birth chart is a tool in astrology where the precise location of stars by the time you were born is analyzed. The precise birth time matches with the first breath of the baby by the time he goes out of the womb. A difference in time can affect the reading because of the following reasons: House of zodiac revolves by 1 degree every 4 minutes. Horoscope is divided into 12 houses, which are seen on the ecliptic plane of the sun. Their position is time and location dependent; therefore, it incessantly changes as time passes. Since it revolves by 1 degree every 4 minutes, it is much obvious that a discrepancy of even a single minute will result in an inaccurate reading.

ASTROLOGY And Its Influences

Taking much of the country by surprise, and causing a great number of negative reactions, was when it became publicly-known that then-president Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy not only frequently consulted an astrologer, but based numerous important decisions on astrology, such as Reagan's chances in the 1976 presidential election, and his eventual choice of George Bush as his vice-president.  While governor of California, Ronald Reagan signed into law a new chapter and section of the government code, which granted astrologers the right to practice astrology for compensation.

Even more surprising was learning that a number of previous presidents had also followed this practice as well as such famous world-leaders as Winston Churchill.

Celebrities are also known to believe in and follow the paths of astrology when deciding the course of their careers, often being quite outspoken about their beliefs.  David Coverdale, of the popular group Whitesnake, has commented that he and his wife rigorously follow astrology;  actor Robert Downey, Jr., and singer Britney Spears are also amongst those who consult astrologers on a regular basis.  J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books series, liberally sprinkles astrological symbolism in her material.  "Astrologers to the stars" occasionally become as much in the spotlight of the public eye as the stars who consult them.

If world-renowned politicians and stars in the entertainment industry have been placing so much value on the subject of astrology, is it any wonder that many average Americans are doing likewise?  A recent Harris Poll has concluded that at least thirty-one percent of Americans have some degree of belief in astrology nearly half of these being in the twenty-five to twenty-nine-year-old age group, with the belief in this practice falling to fourteen percent for those over sixty-five years of age.

The highest percentages of American adults who believe in astrology as being  a valid and significant influence in one's life are women, Democrats, and those who have a high school or less education-yet even Benjamin Franklin professed and wrote about his own personal belief in astrology, which illustrates that this subject is by no means limited to any certain categories of individuals and that its popularity is most definitely not new, as it has long been embraced by well-known, respected people in all fields.

Astrology is described as studying the celestial bodies in relation to their influence on natural events and human experiences.  It is called pseudoscience, proven science, superstition, anti-Christian, and a host of other descriptions based primarily on individual viewpoints on the subject.  But for celebrities, politicians, world leaders, and a large segment of the population of average citizens alike, it is frequently a very strong influencing factor in people's lives.

Chinese LUNAR CALENDAR

Prior to the adoption of the Western solar calendar system, China exclusively followed a lunar calendar in determining the times of planting, harvesting, and festival occasions. Though today people in China use the western calendar for most practical matters of daily life, the old system still serves as the basis for determining numerous seasonal holidays. This coexistence of two calendar systems has long been accepted by the people of China.

A lunar month is determined by the period required for the moon to complete its full cycle of 29 and a half days, a standard that makes the lunar year a full 11 days shorter than its solar counterpart. This difference is made up every 19 years by the addition of seven lunar months. The 12 lunar months are further divided into 24 solar divisions distinguished by the four seasons and times of heat and cold, all bearing close relationship to the yearly cycle of agricultural work.

The Chinese calendar - like the Hebrew - is a combined solar/lunar calendar in that it strives to have its years coincide with the tropical year and its months coincide with the synodic months. It is not surprising that a few similarities exist between the Chinese and the Hebrew calendar: An ordinary year has 12 months, a leap year has 13 months. An ordinary year has 353, 354, or 355 days, a leap year has 383, 384, or 385 days. When determining what a Chinese year looks like, one must make a number of astronomical calculations:

First, determine the dates for the new moons. Here, a new moon is the completely black moon (that is when the moon is in conjunction with the sun), not the first visible crescent used in the Islamic and Hebrew calendars. The date of a new moon is the first day of a new month.

ASTROLOGY - Curiosity

Urania Zodiac Albrecht Durer
Astrology
Where did the practice of astrology originate? Did it evolve in one part of the world and then become adopted by other civilizations.

When you study the ancient civilizations in the Middle East, Central America and in Asia, there are remarkable similarities in how they adapted their lives to be in harmony with the rhythms of the earth and the cosmos. Consider that there are pyramids in Mayan and Aztec cultures, as well as Egyptian ones. And that many pyramids are constructed around and point to key events in the solar system, such as equinoxes and solstices.

Similarly, astrology is thought to have developed independently in Babylon and Central America. The astrology systems in India and China most likely were derived from those in Babylon.

It’s curious that many fundamentalist religions reject the principles of astrology, because it was, in fact, an integral component of the religions of Babylon. It was part of the calling of priests in Babylon to predict the future and part of their methodology for doing so was to interpret events in the sky. Nothing was considered pure chance and any natural occurrence, no matter how mundane or mysterious, could be an omen of either good fortune or bad.

The part of Mesopotamia that is now Iraq once comprised Babylonia in the South and Assyria in the North. Before Alexander the Great conquered the area in 330 BC, the Assyrians were a military and administrative power, and Babylon was the center of culture. The underlying belief system in both cultures was that there was a spiritual force behind every act of nature. Heaven and Earth were complementary systems, with neither one having dominion over the other. But by the 4th century BCE, this belief system was influenced by the Greek view that the heavens, and its resident gods, determined events on earth.

ASTROLOGY, How Old is it?

Bracken House - London
Photo   by Remko van Dokkum
The practice of astrology is mainly based on the premise that the stars, planets, sun, moon, and the earth are all inter-related. Connected together as part of the great cosmic plan. The earth and the planetary bodies influencing each other in varying degrees.

Astrologists believe that everything that happens to everybody in the universe is in some way due to this influence between them. Consequently, the destiny of nations, races, and individuals on this planet earth cannot escape the influence of these cosmic forces.

From long before the days of the mighty Egyptian civilization, the stars and planets have been observed, and it was noted when certain aspects of the planets, sun, and stars coincided with certain conditions occurring on earth. So discovering the laws which produce the systematic, cyclical changes affecting mankind in general, and individuals in particular.

Using the knowledge gained over countless years the practice of astrology was formulated. And it's rules and teachings used to guide people in their daily lives so that they would live in harmony with this great cosmic plan.

So in those very early days astrology, and it may well have been called something else then, was both science and religion, inextricably entwined. The science had to be there in order to measure accurately the movements of the planets and stars. The natural wonder and mystery of the heavenly bodies easily leading to them being held in reverence and awe, becoming objects of worship, and there is the religion.

In fact, the most ancient symbol of God is a star, and the earliest form of religion was star worship. Proving the importance of stars, planets, and constellations from the very earliest times when the man was just becoming sentient.

In the legends and traditions of all peoples are enshrined the story of a great cataclysmic event, wiping out all but a chosen few of all races on the planet at that time, bringing to an end the first period of human existence (Christianity calls it the flood) during which the constellations were regarded as the mansions of God. This was the time when the teachings of astrology were formulated, taught, and practiced.

When astrology was first introduced amongst the eastern nations, the knowledge and science appealed strongly to the highly developed mysticism there and spread rapidly through the adjacent nations via the Egyptian and Babylonian priests and Persian Magi.

From the writings of the Greek writer Philostratus, we know that astrology was known and practiced in Greece twelve hundred years before the birth of Christ.

So it is well proven that astrology has existed for uncountable centuries, the birth of Christ being prophesied by an Egyptian priest called Chechepetresonbu almost two thousand years before the event, ("The ideal ruler for whose advent he longs --- he brings cooling to the flames. It is said that he is the shepherd of all men. There is no evil in his heart... Where is he today? Behold, his might is not seen.") There is no reason to think that it will not endure for uncountable more centuries.

Astrological Predictions are often said to be least connected with reality, however number of people seeking the help of astrologers regarding these predictions are increasing. Most of the time despite constant debate on the credential of these predictions, they turn out to be true or very near to the truth.

Well, individual astrological predictions about a person are made on the basis of his/her birth chart. Birth Chart is examined in relation to various planetary movements at present and at the time of the birth of the person to find out their cosmic effect on the person’s life and the forecast is made accordingly.

Astrological predictions or forecast is an age-old practice that was prevalent even in ancient civilizations of Rome and China. Chinese astrology and old Vedic astrology were of great assistance in decision making in those bygone eras. These decisions were rather based on predictions offered by astrologers.

Despite a surge in a number of forecast seekers, astrology is subdued as a stream that can't make precise predictions instead it could reveal some trends related to your future. But for believers, astrology can surely make absolute predictions as it bases its predictions upon the person's birth chart details and stars.

The daily astrological prediction that is also known as daily horoscope offers an insight into future of folks with twelve differing sun signs. A common forecast is offered for people of one particular sign.

These predictions are not restricted to only one or two walks of a person's life instead astrology covers almost all spheres of human life while making a prediction. For example, astrology also throws light on your probable love and romances. Your moon sign in conjunction with positions of Mars and Venus reflect about future of your love life. Seeing traits associated with your sun sign astrology also tries to know about your possible compatible relations in future.

Even now a good number of people globally seek the help of astrology in matchmaking. That is primarily done to know whether couples are compatible with each other. Your health, career and monetary gains and losses…well, nothing is beyond the reach of astrology to predict about.

But astrological predictions can't be relied upon to make decisions in some of the cases. However, these predictions by making you acquainted with future circumstances help you in facing adverse situations in a better way. But you must seek your astrological details including forecast from an astrologer who has earned credibility, otherwise, you may get fooled by deceitful statements by a person who hardly knows astrology. Psychic astrologers are best at making predictions who try to get future trends by doing your behavioral analysis along with your birth chart analysis.

Astrology, medicine, astronomy

There was a time when astrology was an accepted science and was a part of medical diagnoses, as much as were a patient’s physical symptoms. It’s hard to say whether we’ve e-volved or de-volved, as we no longer think about living in harmony with cosmos. We consider ourselves too advanced scientifically to think that movements in the stars and planets might have a serious impact on our daily lives and our health.

But are we right? Who is anyone to say that man, with his limited brain, can truly comprehend the workings of the universe, or how he fits within it? Western civilization is predicated on conquering, not understanding. But it wasn’t always so.

Astrology is one of the most important historical contexts in which astronomy developed. The Babylonians carefully assembled tablets of the position of Venus, as it was believed to denote omens for weather, war, famine, diseases, rulers, and kingdoms. Claudius Ptolemy composed the Tetrabiblos, believing that astrology could be placed on a rational footing, despite being a conjectural art like medicine. In practice, belief in astrology meant that horoscopes were cast for new-born children, prospective spouses, and political enemies, public buildings were opened and marriage and other ceremonies conducted on auspicious days. Numerous records of astrological practice can be found from the Roman times and physicians routinely consulted astrological charts as part of the diagnostic process.

For instance, every sign of the zodiac was considered to rule a part of the human body: the Sagittarius ruled the thighs, Pisces the feet, and so on. When the moon was in the zodiac ruling a particular part of the body, bloodletting from that part was to be avoided, since the attraction of the moon might cause excessive bleeding. Numerous medical manuscripts and almanacs include the figure of the 'zodiac man' as a reminder of the specific influence of the moon. In addition, the power of the moon's pulling power varied by its phases, and thus almanacs usually showed the phases of the moon.

When it comes to Astrology there are usually only two opinions: for or against. Some people believe Astrology can predict events, others scoff at the idea. The truth is that both camps are wrong.

Claiming that Astrology predicts exact events goes against the nature of the study of astrology. This statement will disappoint some earnest followers of the study. But these people and others must learn that the strength of astrology is not in predicting exact outcomes but general tendencies which reveal themselves as time wears on.

Imagine someone making the prediction that next Wednesday you will be bitten by a neighbor's dog as you step out of your house and as the neighbor screams angry words at you. Who knows, that might happen. But that kind of precise prediction is not what astrology is about. If someone makes that prediction in the name of astrology do not trust the person making the prediction.

It is in the nature of astrology to make general predictions about tendencies. An astrologer, after doing a careful study of your horoscope, for example, might say you will have trouble at some time in the future because (fill in words were derived from the study of your horoscope). The astrologer might predict that something bad might happen to you in the near or far future. But that's about it. Just likelihoods and probabilities. No exact times and certainties.

For some people, this is astrology's strength. For others, it is a weakness. Some people want astrology to predict things like the winning lottery number in next Friday's drawing. Others, the true believers, are satisfied learning whether and when and how to handle the general run of events which will unfold in their future.

The proper role of astrology is to help gain insight and understanding in the patterns and directions life. The predictions, whether based on natal charts or on planetary motion, are never absolute. One of the important reasons the predictions can never be precise is because there is a certain kind of human element. The individual may follow or choose not to follow certain paths. The person may 'fight' his or her destiny. There are too many variables at play all the time which frustrate any prediction with any degree of accuracy about anyone's future.
